Hydrology, biogeochemistry, terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems

Professor of Hydrology and Biogeochemistry, University of Utah

PhD, University of Colorado, Boulder, 1995

My research interests focus on the interactions between the hydrology and biogeochemical cycles in terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. The unifying feature I bring to this work is an explicit focus on the different roles water plays in the environment including a transport vector, mediator of energy balance, or limiting factor in biologically mediated processes. Much of my research focuses on either seasonal (e.g. winter to spring) or spatial (e.g. upland to riparian) transitions as analogs for how the coupling between biotic and abiotic processes will respond to change.
