National Critical Zone Observatories Program All Hands Meeting participants (May 8‐12, 2011), Biosphere 2, University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ.

The community of individuals involved in Critical Zone research is diverse in disciplines and organizations.  Students and faculty from across the US collaborate to resolve how ecological, hydrological, geomorphic and biogeochemical processes interact leading to long-term evolution of the Critical Zone.

UA Earthweek

The annual UA Earthweek is a weeklong collection of natural science research symposia including SWES (Soil, Water and Environmental Science) Day, El Dia del Agua (Hydrology and Water Resources), Geodaze (Geosciences), AIR (Atmospheric Science) Day, and LTRR (Laboratory of Tree-Ring Research) Day. This large event is the main UA research symposium and is completely run by graduate students from all of the School of Earth and Environmental Science departments. During the week, undergraduate and graduate students present talks and posters on their research to a mixed audience of student body, alumni, public, and researchers. Every year Earthweek includes many presentations from the Jemez-Catalina CZO and this year includes graduate student Michael Pohlmann (SWES co-chair) and Ph.D. candidate Caitlin Orem (Geodaze co-chair) on the organization staff.
