Measuring the amount of snow in the Sierra Nevada and then predicting how much runoff there will be as it melts during the spring and summer is an annual rite that has a major trickledown effect of its own. Now, a University of California, Merced professor has come up with a system that uses advanced technology to better understand water cycles and predict runoff.
