I research novel wireless sensor networks, network optimization, and machine learning for large data sets. I am especially interested in how large wireless networks can be used to supplement traditional modeling techniques in the face of model uncertainty. At the SSCZO, I am currently helping to deploy a large wireless sensor network to study snowmelt and other hydrologic process at finer spatial and temporal resolutions than were previously achievable. Previously I have designed and deployed large fleets of autonomously controlled Lagrangian sensors for use in rivers and estuaries through the NSF CiBER-IGERT traineeship.
