Poetic Science Exhibit Opens at the Museum of Contemporary Art of Puerto Rico

A "Poetic Science" exhibit has opened at the  Museum of Contemporary Art of Puerto Rico (MAC) a collaboration between the USDA Forest Service International Institute of Tropical Forestry (IITF) and MAC. The installation is the culmination of an arts residency in El Toro wilderness area of El Yunque that began in March of 2013. The installation includes works in various mediums including video, sculpture and performance. Also presented are exhibits of scientific investigation including interactive recordings of the sounds of El Yunque, maps and a weather station. The installation will be open until May 11 2014.

Artists involved include Jon Cohrs (Switzerland/US), Grisha Coleman (US), Aline Veillat (France/Switzerland), Dhara Rivera, Elizabeth Robles, Noemi Segarra and Felix Rodriguez (PISO Proyecto) who collaborated with scientificparticipants from IITF, Dr Grizelle Gonzalez (project leader), Dr William Gould, Dr Tamara Hearstill-Scalley. The group was also guided on field trops by Dr Ariel Lugo director of IITF.

Friday, March 14th 3:00 PM, A Panel will discuss Elizabeth Robles "Libro de las Fechas" 

Wednesday, March 26th 7:00 PM, Open house, many of the artists and scientists will be present to discuss their work. Entry is free and the Gallery will be open until 9:00 PM  

Saturday March 29th 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM, Family day, "The Forest, the Body, and the Heart" event led by Jose Pepe Alvarez for Childern 5 years and older. Reservations required entrance is $5 a person.
