PhD Student, Soil Science, University of Georgia

Graduate students play a central role in conducting research at the Critical Zone Observatories. Graduate student Diego Barcellos, a PhD student at the University of Georgia, Athens, was featured as an Amazing Student. After completing his M.S. degree on phytoremediation of organic contaminants with Dr. Aaron Thompson and Dr. Larry Morris, Barcellos has initiated a cross-CZO study on iron controls on soil carbon. However, his journey to this point began in his hometown of João Neiva, Espirito Santo, Brazil. Read more about his travels from Brazil to Georgia and beyond to Luquillo and Calhoun CZOs on the University of Georgia website.
