I am interested in various physiological traits that confer drought tolerance in conifers, and in particular how these traits may interact or represent potential resource allocation tradeoffs. I am currently using dendrochronology and xylem anatomy to quantify the degree of drought resilience conferred by changes in xylem architecture and growth relative to reproductive investment under extreme drought.
