As a soil biogeochemist and microbial ecologist, I am especially interested in the microbial processes that drive soil carbon and nutrient transformations and land-atmosphere greenhouse gas exchange. I am currently studying the impacts of climate change on soil biogeochemical fluxes and microbial community composition in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California by manipulating the timing of snowmelt and transplanting soil cores along an elevation gradient.
