Members of the National CZOData team are hosting a series of two-hour discussions with individual CZOs (CZO PIs, data managers, interested researchers, et al).  These 1:1 consultations are focusing on sharing data.

Each CZO is covering topics such as:

  • Data management approaches.
  • Data management infrastructure.
  • Tools in use.
  • Cross-CZO data.

The CZOData team is outlining expectations for sharing data:

  1. List datasets at CriticalZone.org.
  2. Use YODA files to share data.
  3. Use controlled vocabularies to describe data.
  4. Obtain IGSNs for sites and specimens.
  5. List geospatial data on CriticalZone.org.
  6. Share LiDAR data via OpenTopography.
  7. Use Data DOIs at archival data centers to publish datasets.

Additionally, the team is outlining two optional approaches:

  • Use ODM2 Database for local data management.
  • Stream live data via Water One Flow web services.

Both groups are discussing all the above topics together, as well as:
* Current needs.
* Training options.
* Future challenges and needs.

Everyone on the CZO Information Management Committee (CZO-IMC) is invited to listen in on all 1:1 consultations, to promote sharing of our various approaches.  The consultations are being recorded.
