The Brazilian Critical Zone Symposium (BCZS) will be held April 15 – 17th in the city of Piracicaba, State of São Paulo, Brazil.

The Brazilian Critical Zone Symposium (BCZS) is an interdisciplinary event promoted by the Soil and Plant Nutrition Graduate Program with the support of the Department of Soil Science of the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture of University of São Paulo (ESALQ/USP). The event is scheduled to take place on April 15 – 17th at ESALQ/USP Campus, located in the city of Piracicaba, State of São Paulo, Brazil.

The BCZS will be three-day meeting, conducted in the English language, that will bring together foreign researchers with Critical Zone Science background and Brazilian researchers chosen to lecture because of the multidisciplinary nature of their research. The complete schedule will soon be released, but the keynote speakers list can already be found in the event’s website.

Target Audience

The BCZS has a target audience of undergraduate and graduate students and professors from Brazilian and international institutions that work in areas related to environmental sciences. As well as professionals from government agencies and private companies from the environmental, forestry and agricultural sectors.

Meeting Goals

The four primary goals for the meeting are:

  • To promote knowledge by the Brazilian scientific community about the studies of the Critical Zone carried out in the observatories distributed throughout the world;
  • To promote the discussion and to foster the accomplishment of multidisciplinary researches with the approach of the CZ in Brazil;
  • To suggest the design of a network of CZ observatories in Brazil and to establish guidelines for this network to be integrated globally;
  • To produce a report summarizing the main proposals for the creation of the Brazilian network of CZ observatories.

Call for abstracts - Deadline 24 March 2019

The Brazilian Critical Zone Symposium will be a unique opportunity to highlight the latest discoveries, insights, and advances in environmental science for the Brazilian scientific community and international participants. The intention of the poster session is to promote interaction between the participants and build a network for future collaboration.

The BCZS Organizing Committee cordially invites you to submit abstracts for poster presentation. All abstracts will be reviewed by the Organizing Committee and assigned to the appropriate session.
