Stephen Welch graduated Spring 2012 from UC Berkeley with an M.S. in environmental engineering. Stephen's research focus is large scale sensor placement for capturing snow water equivalent in the American River Basin using Gaussian Process machine learning algorithms. Stephen is also developing a protocol for communication between Campbell scientific data loggers and Dust networks wireless hardware, allowing extensive existing hardware to communicate wirelessly, delivering data to researchers in real time.
