Presentations

T116: Karst Critical Zone Evolution: The Rapid Responses of Carbonate Systems to Changes in Climate, Sea Level, Groundwater Pumping and Land Cover/Land-Use
Monday, 26 September 2016: 1:30 PM-5:30 PM
Room 504 (Colorado Convention Center)

Karst Critical Zones--the zone stretching from the top of the canopy to the interface where groundwater is chemically equilibrated with the bedrock-- are governed by rapid carbonate mineral reaction rates; as such, climatic or anthropogenic disturbances that change salinity, vegetation, precipitation, temperature, residence time and/or flow patterns can significantly alter their structure and function.

Session Chairs: Pamela L Sullivan | Gwen L Macpherson | Jonathan B. Martin | René M Price
