Lake Alpine Watershed Week Lunch Hike: From Lake to Lava

PRESENTATION/TALK | EDUCATION/OUTREACH | OTHER

SSCZO discusses Sierra vegetation, soils, and water cycle on a special hike from Lake Alpine to Inspiration Point.

Meet at Lake Alpine Ampitheater, Stanislaus National Forest
Join SSCZO in Stanislaus National Forest for a lunchtime hike from Lake Alpine to lava-capped Inspiration Point on Thursday, July 21, 2016, part of Lake Alpine's Watersheds Week.

Hike to Inspiration Point and observe how rock, soil, and vegetation change along the way. Explore relationships between forests, water, and soil. Learn about the Sierra Nevada water cycle, the effects of drought on these mountains, and other ways our forests are changing. Three miles round-trip, moderately strenuous.
