Hazardous Fuels Reducation Demonstration - Southern California Edison's open event

Our colleagues at the UC ANR, USDA Forest Service, Southern California Edison, and others are hosting an open event at Shaver Lake.

You are invited to attend the Hazardous Fuels Reduction Demonstration in Shaver Lake, CA, hosted by the USDA Forest Service, in conjunction with the University of California Center for Forestry, TSS Consultants and other partners.

  • View various conventional and innovative hazardous fuels treatments IN ACTION!
  • Get up-to-date information on equipment options and treatment techniques from on site resource professionals.
  • Vendors include Caterpillar, FAE - Prime Tech, Fecon, John Deere, Kaiser, Morbark, Air Burner, Takeuchi, and goats from Star Creek Land Stewards .

Tours are 9am to 2pm.

Participants should wear field clothes including long-sleeved shirt, pants, hiking boots. Bring sunscreen, water, and a lunch. If you do not have safety gear such as hard hats and goggles, they will be provided.

Thinning and logging clean up at the Kings River Experimental Watersheds, where researchers are evaluating the impacts of forest manipulations like mnechanical thinning and prescribed burns.
