Cross-CZO Studies

Our conceptual model -- that hydrological and biological processes that physically mix minerals and carbon are rate limiting to watershed-scale carbon sequestration, chemical weathering and soil production -- requires a whole watershed observatory approach.

The CZO network provides the ideal framework for testing our conceptual model over settings with differing climate, topography and geology.  The CZO network has thus adopted the goal of quantifying whole watershed budgets of energy, water, carbon and minerals.
