Dan Markewitz and Dan Richter led a field trip on June 6-7, 2019 in the rain (perhaps 3") across the Calhoun CZO with Penn State students. We explored critical zone science, saprolite, land managment, C-Fe redox cycles, weathering fronts, geohydrology, environmental history, Despite the rain, we buoyed each others' spirits and had a fine day. Thursday evening we were joined by three faculty members of the Wofford College faculty, three volunteer critical zoneists, the most special kinds of colleagues - John Lane, the geopoet; Terry Ferguson, the Earth surface scientist; and Kaye Savage, the geologist and artist.
