In addition to digging out Calhoun's experimental catchments and installing new 90-degree V-notch weirs for runoff measurements, one of the catchments will be intensively measured by the installation of throughfall collectors, groundwater wells, recording piezometers, and tensiometer nests.

A 52-year old soil sample archive from a land-use change field experiment is available for studies of land-use change effects on the belowground ecosystem. Samples have been collected and archived about every five years from 16 permanent 0.1-ha plots, from four soil depths. Nearly all samples are still in the archive.
