The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors have passed a resolution comending the Eel River Recovery Project (ERRP) and the Eel River Critical Zone Observatory's efforts to better understand and to raise awareness of  toxic algal blooms in the Eel River.  In  mid-July Eel River CZO graduate student  Keith Bouma-Gregson assisted Humboldt County Department of Public Health and Human Services and the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department in their efforts to recover the remains of a missing person.  Keith assessed the cyanobacteria levels in the water and determining that was safe enough for search and rescue dogs to search the area.
