Northwestern University seeks a postdoctoral scholar to integrate Urban Water, Food, Energy, and Ecosystems Data (Urban Water FEED) to improve urban systems efficiency and resiliency, reduce hazards, and support infrastructure planning and land and water management. The Water Data Science postdoctoral scholar will be supported jointly by the Northwestern Center for Water Research and Data Science Initiative to integrate theory, data, and models to predict large-scale, long-term outcomes in complex water-energy foodecosystems, and enable safe, efficient, and sustainable management of water. As this position is internally supported, the specific focus of the work can be flexible within these overall themes. Areas of interest include: integrating disparate emerging data streams linking regional water use, industrial production, food production, and energy use in the greater Chicago megaregion; evaluation of potential for wastewater reuse, water use-reuse chaining, and other resource recovery measures to increase regional resource use efficiency; and development of tools to evaluate multifunctional benefits of green infrastructure for regional water management. The postdoctoral scholar will be expected to coordinate with diverse regional partners including governmental, community, conservation, and industrial organizations, and will have the opportunity to leverage existing regional partnerships with entities such as Argonne National Laboratory and The Nature Conservancy. Outstanding candidates interested in this program should submit applications electronically
via email to water@northwestern.edu. Applications from women and minority candidates are especially encouraged. Applications must include a CV, copies of 1-3 most relevant publications, a brief statement of research accomplishments and plans, and list of three individuals who can provide letters of recommendation. Applicants must complete their Ph.D. prior to appointment. Applications received by April 1, 2016 will receive full consideration, but early submissions are most welcome and later applications will be considered until the position is filled.

Northwestern University is an Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action Employer of all protected classes including veterans and individuals with disabilities. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply. Hiring is contingent upon eligibility to work in the United States.
