Dan Richter gave a lecture about the Calhoun CZO to an invited audience assembled by the Forest History Society in Durham NC on April 25, 2014. Richter’s challenge to the diverse group, all interested in forests, was to look again at the southern USA forest to better appreciate the legacy of past land management that continues to influence how the forest functions today, including its productivity, water quality, and ability to provide ecosystem services.
