Variation of iron reduction with depth over time at the Calhoun CZO

Abstract

We installed passive iron redox probes across watersheds 2, 3, and 4 following an intense rainfall event in October and at the end of winter in March. We found that the intensity of iron reduction remained the same, but varied with respect to depth. In October, iron reduction was greatest at soil depths of 20-50 cm, while in March iron reduction is greatest in the top 20 cm.
