It is with great pleasure we announce a fourth award has been granted on the RFP seed grant for collaborative research at Shale Hills. The proposal “Quantifying regolith formation rates with U-series isotopes along the shale weathering transect within the Susquehanna Shale Hills Critical Zone Observatory” submitted by Dr. Lin Ma, Assistant Professor, Department of Geological Sciences, University of Texas at El Paso, was funded for $9,587. This project will compliment current research on soil profiles developing in small gray shale watersheds along a climate gradient and will provide two undergraduate students, from a primarily underrepresented minority serving institution, research training in laboratory techniques.
