We proudly announce the fifth and final award has been granted on the 2012 RFP seed grant for collaborative research at Shale Hills. The proposal “Reconciling physical and chemical profiles in the complex soils of the Shale Hills CZO” submitted by Dr. Steven Peters and Dr. Frank Pazzaglia, each Professors of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Lehigh University, was funded for $4668. Through the excavation of soil pits that traverse and parallel the hillslope, this project will compliment previous research on the geochemical evolution of soil profile and provide training for two early career female Ph.D. graduate students in geochemical techniques. This final award closes the competion for small, 1 year grants to facilitate scientific investigations within the SSHO.
