Twelve of the fifteen TeenShale high school students from State High traveled to Pittsburgh, PA and presented results from the ongoing multi-year project. Since 2012, TeenShale has been educating students interested in the environment about local and statewide activities surrounding energy exploration. The 2017 meeting theme, Shale Gas Production: Views from the Energy Roller Coaster, and nearby venue offered an ideal opportunity for the students to contribute to the conversation. Through their own initiative, the students inquired and received permission to submit an abstract to the Undergraduate Research Poster Session. What an amazing capstone for the seniors who have participated all four years of high school and grown from dependence to independence in project design, field implementation, water quality monitoring techniques, data discovery, data analyses, presentation design, and scientific communication.
