The 2016-2017 TeenShale cohort begins fifth year of water quality monitoring along Black Moshannon Creek, from Black Moshannon State Park to the confluence with Moshannon Creek at the Centre-Clearfield County line.  This year’s cohort of sixteen includes four participants from each grade level, freshmen through senior.  Students have selected to compare and contrast water quality between this creek and Beech Creek, a stream impacted by acid mine drainage (AMD) and located in the neighboring Clinton County.   Goals this year include a chemical analysis unit with the junior chemistry students at State High and a macroinvertebrate survey along the stream reach.
