Early on a cool, clear, morning, five earth science faculty with State College Area High School gather with CZO team members to embark on a summer day in the field. The faculty aim to refresh their knowledge of water quality monitoring techniques and reacquaint themselves with each of the field sites under investigation by TeenShale participants. With three locations to visit, each faculty member was able to use the FlowTracker, which measures discharge, and collect and filter stream samples for geochemical analyses. While the water temperatures this day were quite comfortable (21.5 ⁰C), the stream depths were very shallow along the reach of Black Moshannon Creek and dam overflow from Black Moshannon Lake was minimal.
