Each year, the Department of Meteorology hosts Weather Camp and Advanced Weather Camp over two weeks in June. The Penn State Weather camps strive to bring together students with a passion for weather entering grades 8-12 and show them various places where meteorological knowledge is used in industry and research. Ken Davis, Co-I Meteorology, leads the discussions at Shale Hills as the campers observe and learn of the instrumentation in practice. In the 16 years since inception, over 800 campers have visited Penn State.
