Penn State Weather Campers visit the CZO

Ken Davis and Bill Syrett demonstrated the instrumentation used to collect atmospheric data in the CZO with 36 rising 8th – 10th graders.  Camp participants came from several states and some as far as Nevada, California, and Oregon.  As part of the annual weather camp experience, the students learn how storms form, launch a weather balloon, analyze surface weather maps, make weather forecasts, and tour various Penn State facilities.  The Shale Hills CZO provides the opportunity to observe meteorological instrumentation in the field for research purposes.
