Hydrogeophysics Workshop Returns to CZO for field campaign
Over two days, the catena in Garner Run was home base for the Rutgers 2017 Hydrogeophysics Workshop. Faculty, graduate students, and three undergraduate REU students from Rutgers joined faculty/student teams from City College of New York and Indiana University of Pennsylvania to explore the subsurface. Field techniques demonstrated this year were ERT (Electrical Resistivity Tomography) where a tracer injection of KBr (potassium bromide) was monitored, high resolution GPR (Ground Penetrating Radar), SNMR (Surface Nuclear Magnetic Resonance), and Electromagnetic (EM) induction. This year’s goals were multi-tiered with graduate students building on previous research and collecting datasets related to fluid transport, water content and structural composition on the Leading Ridge and Tussey Mountain. Undergraduates learned important team building skills and were introduced to new instrumentation and field campaign techniques.
