Ismaiel Szink, Doctoral Candidate in the intercollege graduate degree program ecology, has been awarded the prestigious National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship.  The fellowhsip will help support Szink's reseach on  tree roots in the Critical Zone and their exudates, compounds released by roots into the surronding soils.  These exudates may influcence rock weathering, soil stabilization, and nutrient mobility.
